Small Business Marketing Blog

A short description about your blog

In today’s competitive world of business a website is essential to many businesses longevity. Yet, business websites of today are progressively evolving and needs much more attention than the once popular cooking device slogan, “Set it and Forget it”. Your website needs constant upkeep if you are to get the results you want and expect. You can almost compare your site to a girlfriend (or wife, take your pick) who never stops asking the question, “What have you done for me lately?”. So, now, if you want a continued happy state of bliss with your website then you better start giving it the attention it deserves.

It’s no big news these days that most businesses need a website. Businesses recognize the practicality of having an Internet presence. Whether you’re using the web to provide company information, for selling, for collaboration, to increase membership or for some other meaningful cause, the Internet is where people go to find what they want and need. The key here is that there is not one perfect advertising media. People are diverse and so are their buying reflexes.

As a business owner or company executive it's important to make smart business decisions, and in a tough economy deciding on how to best advertise and market your company products and services can be crucial. For instances, a company could simply decide to rely on lowering prices to increase sales. Of course, this technique may work initially, but to be truly competitive (and keep the sales rolling in) a company needs to show clients that their products or services has added value. After all, your competition can lower prices as well, and lowering your prices too drastically will not keep you in business for very long.

Here are 9 great reasons why a business needs a website:

In the words of a local accountant, "It all Depends".  Depending on how fast you want to grow your business, the percentage of the amount spent on a marketing budget (MB) can vary.

In 1998, Inc. Magazine interviewed the nations' top 500 companies and found that this is how they spent their dollars:
